There’s nothing quite like a winter wedding. Sure, winter can be cold and bland, but it can also be magical and beautiful! Here’s a few things I love about weddings this time of year:

Snow: There’s always a chance for some snow on the big day, and a wintry mix is just the thing to help celebrate the bride and groom! A white, winter wonderland makes for great photo opps and a fun time. The bright snow creates dreamy lighting and the perfect backdrop to otherwise bare trees and brown scenery.

Fur: Cold weather means bundling up, and what better way to do that than with a touch of fur! It just happens to be one of my favorite wedding day accessories, very appropriate for special winter occasions. I love when a bride dawns a fuzzy fur coat. It’s elegant, cozy, and oh so pretty for pictures!

Lights: Shorter days means less daylight, so evening winter weddings lend themselves to opportune lighting. From hanging bistro lights to candlelit aisles and sparkler exits, lights help create a magical and romantic feel for the occasion. I can’t help but fall in love with a twinkling ceremony or reception space. Simply stunning!

Holiday Cheer: There’s always that holiday happiness around Christmas and New Years that I just love. From the decorations and festivities to the overall joy of the season, it’s such a fun time of year for a wedding. The holiday cheer always seems to overflow into the winter weddings I shoot, and I can’t get enough of it!

Winter Colors: And of course there’s the great colors of the season! The reds, the greens, and the whites. Whether it’s the crimson Roses and Winterberry in the bouquets and boutonnieres, or the Pine and Cedar in the centerpieces, winter provides a picture perfect color pallet.

What are your favorite things about winter weddings? I would love to hear them!
